Community is our driving force.

Everything we do as a company is underpinned by the belief that creating artistic works that challenge assumptions through inclusive collaboration ultimately builds stronger communities.

HIDDEN DIARIES

Arts meets business

Five performers who also identify as having disability will each have a week long residency in a local Mackay business to interview workers, clients and customers about the themes of uncomfortability & unconscious bias.

Each performer will record a ‘work diary’ at the end of each day that will form the basis of intimate audiovisual sound installations and live performance as part of An Unconventional Tour.

Residencies: April, 2019

Focus IN

Extreme glare

Audiences will be invited down laneways to listen into interviews and view large scale portrait paste ups created by those that are considered to be marginalised. This unconventional street gallery will debunk myths and challenge media portrayals of those that are often misrepresented in our society and will form part of the route for An Unconventional Tour.

Workshops:  April-May, 2019

Tune IN

Lyrically intense.

Join acclaimed Brisbane spoken word artists Angela Pieta, Anisa Nandaula and phenomenal Cairns based hip hop artist Morganics for a 3 day workshop series to create your own original poetry and songs based on difference, bias and uncomfortability.

Your original work will be converted to large scale braille decals on shop front windows, sprayed onto walls, or you will have the opportunity to perform as part of An Unconventional Tour route.

Workshops are open to everyone and in particular we encourage people who use augmentative & alternative communication, who are low vision, blind or deafblind, young people who have disability living in group and/or foster homes and those who are the primary carers for their parents.

Workshop dates: Friday May 24 - Sunday May 26, 2019
