Connecting with Japan

In 2013 Steve Mayer-Miller travelled to Japan with interpreters Karen Hurford and Ai Wakasugi. Meetings were held with Japan's  peak body in disability arts, Able Arts. They met representatives in Tokyo and Nara City and in Nagoya they met with the organisation called Popeye.  Steve ran theatre-based workshop at Popeye.  Another organisation that Crossroad Arts met with was Salon Shinsei, based in the city of Koriyama in Fukushima. In Koriyama he produced a short film documentary on residents with a disability who were forced to leave their homes following the nuclear accident.
